The workshop will be an opportunity to sing one of the great masterpieces of classical music alongside members of one of Devon’s best amateur chamber choirs and will culminate with an informal performance accompanied by piano and soloists from The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Prior knowledge of the work / some sight-reading ability is beneficial but not required.

Jonathan Lucas Wood is a graduate of the MA Choral Conducting programme at the University of Birmingham where he studied with Simon Halsey CBE. Jonathan has been Musical Director of the Exeter Bach Choir since 2016 and is known for his energetic and captivating style rooted in vocal pedagogy. He recently studied in Italy with Simon Carrington and Dr. Tony Thornton and took up a new position as Musical Director of Surrey Youth Choir in January 2024.
Jonathan is joined by accompanist Sam Nickels.
Sam Nickels is the Exeter Bach Choir’s Assistant Musical Director and joins us on piano to support the choir throughout the day and bring Mozart’s orchestration to life on two hands.

We will be using the Barenreiter Edition, which is available for hire if required.
