World première: ‘Fear No More’

Exeter Bach Choir and Orchestra are delighted to be performing the world première of Exeter-based composer Peter Nickol’s work ‘Fear No More’ in their forthcoming concert, Fear No More music for consolation.

The concert will take place at 7:30pm at St David’s Church, Exeter on 11 March.

Apart from ‘Fear No More’, the concert will include Fauré’s Requiem, J.S. Bach’s cantata ‘Ich habe genug’, Brahms’ ‘How lovely are thy dwellings’ (sung in the original German), and Geoffrey Burgon’s Nunc Dimittis. The last three years, dominated by the Covid pandemic, have been difficult for many – not least for musicians. Bringing these works together gives this concert a distinct theme and feeling, emphasising consolation, compassion, resolution, and peace. We hope that people will enjoy listening to the way composers have responded to this theme over a time-span of nearly three hundred years.

Tickets are priced at £18 in advance (via Ticketsource or choir members) or £20 on the door. We are partnering on this occasion with Hospiscare, who will hold a retiring collection.
